Sara Davenport / Voice, Guitar Sara is a guitarist and singer/songwriter from Northern Virginia. She has been studying guitar for over 10 years and was a vocal major at the VCU School of Music, graduating with a degree in Music Education. She has now been teaching general music, chorus and guitar for 6 years at a Fairfax County elementary school, and is a very active performer. Sara currently performs with Heather Mae & The Make Believe (2nd place winners at Jammin Java’s Battle of the Bands), her trio group The 3MTs, her duo group FarAway, as well as solo performances. In her free time she enjoys playing soccer and supporting her fellow musicians by attending local shows.
Eileen Graham / Voice, Performance
Eileen is a pop singer-songwriter from Virginia with more than 10 years of professional performance experience, as well as training from the James Madison University School of Music. As the former lead singer of the band Noble Air, Graham was featured on the premiere webisode of Aux Send, which landed in the Top 10 of New & Noteworthy Artists on iTunes in 2011 and she has since embarked on a solo career. Rick Hodes / Drums, Percussion Rick Hodes has been teaching professionally for over 10 years and playing for 25. He studied classical/rudimental percussion privately for 7 years with the top percussionist for the Army Band, William Messerschmidt and studied percussion performance at East Carolina University with Mark Ford and Harold Jones. In addition he also has been an avid enthusiast of the guitar and electric bass for which he has been playing for 20 years. A seasoned performing artist who has done every type of gig from musicals to big band jazz to zydeco to speed metal. He is also a recording artist for Shrapnel Records with the band Timelord.
Jack Layne / Guitar, Bass Jack Layne has been playing bass and guitar for the past 27 years with jazz combos, country and rock bands from south western Virginia, to now in D.C., with the 3MTs. Finding what the student wants to learn and how to get them there is the greatest reward. Jack has a bachelor's degree in Music from Bluefield College and a Master's degree in Composition from James Madison University. He has also taught music in the public school system for 16 years. Jack likes to get out and kayak the Potomac and take a ride on his mountain or road bike when the chance presents itself.
Heather Mae / Voice, Songwriting
Voice: Heather Mae studied Musical Theater at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She is trained classically but specializes in contemporary singing. Whether you want to belt like Adele or sing sweet and low like Norah Jones, Heather Mae can help you find YOUR voice and hone in on the special attributes that make your voice different than any others. She can also provide you with the tools that will keep you singing effortlessly for years to come.
Songwriting: In 2011 Heather Mae completed her daily songwriting project, "One Year of Songs", where she wrote and recorded one song every day for a year. She now teaches songwriting courses and speaks on music panels all over the country, specializing in helping others find their own personalized creative process and writing without judgement.
Tony Moreno / Electric Bass, Piano, Beginning Guitar Tony has been performing and recording in and around the Washington, DC area for the past 13 years. Most notably with, The Band Called Future, which has released three full-length albums and tours the East Coast extensively. Tony is currently involved with several other projects in the DC area including Mud Rey and The James Helle Trio. He also hosts a semi regular jam session at Jammin Java, The Lobby Bar Open Stage. Tony began his teaching career more than ten years ago in a private studio with both piano and bass students. Since then, he has continued to enjoy enriching the lives of others through his knowledge of the art of music. He specializes in Blues, Rock, Funk, Latin and Jazz. He focuses his teaching on proper form and technique, sight reading, ear training and improvisational skills.
John Morrison / Guitar, Piano John has over 22 years experience in music with over 15 years in guitar. He studied guitar locally under Rob Ross and has over a decade of experience in performing, recording, and songwriting. John has performed at notable DC area venues such as Jammin' Java, The Kennedy Center, and the 9:30 Club. Lessons are focused on sight reading and ear training in addition to learning songs and building tools for songwriting and creativity. Over 10 years experience in teaching.
Caitlin Schneiderman / Guitar, Songwriting Caitlin Schneiderman is a guitarist and songwriter from Clifton, Virginia. She has been teaching guitar in the area for the past three years and performing for the past twelve years. She has studied with Chris Smither at Fur Peace Ranch in Ohio and specializes in finger style guitar and songwriting. She teaches students of all levels.
John Schucker / Guitar John is a graduate of The Berklee College of Music in Boston MA with a BA in composition and film scoring. For the past twelve years he has divided his time between teaching private lessons and local and national performances on bass and guitar with artists such as Bobby Parker and Alan Scott. John teaches all levels and contemporary styles with a focus on improvisation and theory.
Gabe White / PianoGabe teaches both classical and contemporary styles and covers the important aspects of theory, technique, sight-reading, scales and pieces. Gabe has been teaching students ages 4 - 64 for 3 years and studied under the supervision of Dr. Darryl Gilbert, president of Performing Arts Ministries and graduated with the highest honors from the level 6 practical and theory courses of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, the world’s leading authority on musical assessment. Gabe studied classical styles and is fluent in blues, rock, jazz, funk, pop and synth (electronic). Gabe loves working with people to overcome their obstacles to realizing their dreams.
Daniel Wrigley / Guitar, SongwritingDaniel is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from NoVA. He graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree specialized in Contemporary Writing & Production. He's been involved with a diverse set of musical projects, from performing folk to composing classical strings to producing and engineering progressive rock, and is comfortable both on stage and in the studio. He loves helping musicians of all levels learn the language of music, and helping them to express themselves with their instrument.
